⭐️Program Spotlight!⭐️Strum, laugh, and connect! HOH is excited to have recently started ukulele classes for seniors with the city of Peoria. These classes are led by our music therapist Carly once a week at the Peoria Community Center. These classes are provided to help maintain cognitive wellness, positive mood, and increase social interactions for older adults. A typical session will involve social greetings and conversations with one another, learning 3-4 ukulele chords, and learning a preferred song on the ukulele. Carly shared that these classes are the ones she looks forward to the most because she loves seeing the participants’ enthusiasm for a learning a new skill set. The participants report enjoying the challenge and learning their favorite songs so that they can practice at home to play it for the friends and family. HOH is proud to be working with the city of Peoria to provide opportunities for seniors to improve the cognitive wellbeing through the medium of music. ... See MoreSee Less
